Restylane®

Restylane® is a natural cosmetic skin filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. It restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to sever facial wrinkles. It is biodegradable and fully biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

Restylane® has been used since 1996 worldwide. It has been used in more than 3 million treatments in over 60 countries. The FDA has approved Restylane® for wrinkles and folds like the ones from the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial fold). It can be used for other applications such as lip augmentation. There is no allergy testing required. After the treatment there might be some redness and swelling. This will normally last less than a week. Extreme heat and cold should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappear.

You should not use Restylane® if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18.

The improvement in the appearance on the facial wrinkles and folds can for about 6 months. The average patient may require treatments twice a year. Touch-up treatments before the product has fully dissipated may enhance the lasting effect.

Botox® which is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes underlying muscles. Botox® and Restylane® treatments can be combined and improve the results.

How is Restylane® applied?

Restylane® can be only administered by a licensed practitioner. It is distributed is ready to administer syringes. Each syringe is used only for one patient. Depending on the location and the size of the area, patients will be treated with a combination of topical and local anesthetic prior to Restylane® injections. After the treatment cold packs are applied to decrease the swelling and redness.
